Contraceptive/Gynecology Update

In This Training

This workshop will present the latest developments in contraceptive practice, as well as an update on current gynecological care.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • describe new developments in contraceptive practice;
  • describe appropriate management of Pap tests and referrals for further evaluation;
  • list two characteristics of both high risk and low risk HPV;
  • describe the difference in the relative efficacy of LARC methods and combined hormonal contraceptive methods;
  • define which patients are appropriate candidates for intrauterine contraception.

Clinicians and nurses providing reproductive health care.

Trainers

Patty Cason, FNP is a family nurse practitioner with a specialty in gynecology. She has practiced for 27 years in a variety of settings in addition to serving as Assistant Clinical Professor at UCSF and UCLA. She currently works in a private practice at UCLA and at Planned Parenthood Los Angeles. She is also a faculty member for the American Society of Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (ASCCP) Comprehensive Colposcopy courses.

Fees

All fees are per person.

  • Title X-funded agencies: $25;
  • Private/Other funding: $45.
  • CEs/CMEs are an additional $30.

A $10 late fee will be assessed for each registration received after the deadline of February 18, 2010. Fees can be refunded if cancellation is received 5 working days prior to the session.

Continuing Education

Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number 02604, for 6.6 contact hours. To receive credit, nurses must attend the entire course and present their license number at the workshop.

Center for Health Training is a CME accredited provider. Center for Health Training (CHT) designates this educational activity for a maximum of 5.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should claim credit commensurate with the extent of their par ticipation in the activity. This credit may also be applied to the CMA Certification in Continuing Medical Education. CHT is accredited by the Institute for Medical Quality/California Medical Association for issuing AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™ for physicians. CHT takes responsibility for the content, quality and scientific integrity of this CME activity. All other applicants will receive certificates of participation.
